This picture was taken right in front of our motorhome. We are at an old airfield of the now closed Harmon Air Force Base. It was open from 1941 until 1966. We are killing time until we catch the ferry back to Nova Scotia. The city allows people to park here for free. We stayed four days.

We boarded this ferry (Caribou) on July 8 to travel from N. Sydney, NS to Port aux Basques, NL. The trip took 6 hours. Newfoundland and Labrador joined Canada in 1949 making it the youngest province. It is also one of the largest islands in the western hemisphere. It is a province of jagged coastline, forests of spruce, pine, and burch trees, and dotted with fishing villages.

This is taken at Lobster Cove Head . Notice how rocky the coastline is.
